Civil Organizations Jointly Condemned Nigerian Police And Government For Intimidating 2Face, Vow To Hold Nationwide Protests As Planned

Some civil organizations have jointly condemned the Nigerian Police and the government for allegedly intimidating star singer, 2Face, into withdrawing from a nationwide anti-government protest 48 hours to the date.

The advocacy groups, however, insisted that the protest rallies will take place irrespective of 2Face's withdrawal.

“We want to condemn the Federal Government and the Nigeria Police Force for intimidation 2Face Idibia into non-participation in the 6th February mass protests against the suffering of Nigerians and anti-poor policies in the country,” said the Youth Against Austerity and United Action for Democracy in a statement.
They called on Nigerians not to be dispirited the hitches the planned protest has witnessed, urging them to come out en masse.
"We will march alongside other radical groups and the mass of the people, who are agitated, in moving against this hardship. Let’s show our oppressors and the bosses that we will emancipate ourselves no matter the threats,” the groups said.
They commended 2Face for standing up to be counted.
“That he had to bow to the cruel and anti-democratic pressures on him and his family is a pointer to the fact that we all are humans. The fate of the protest is never tied to any individual, no matter how great or popular,” the groups maintained.
