Exposed!! Chronicles And Secrets Of Campus Cultism And Confranternity In Nigeria, Their Codes And Passwords

The Genesis Of Cultism In Nigeria
In overseas Universities, students welcome forming unions, groups and fraternities. these groups were formed for a honorable reasons. The original camouflaged aims and intentions of those like Prof. Wole Sonyika who brought home the idea of forming confraternities such as Pyrates, Buccaneers, etc as practiced in overseas universities were quite good at the beginning but no sooner they started the operations of clubs in Nigerian higher institutions that they departed from the purported purpose and intentions for which they were formed and their activities became geared and directed towards perpetration of evil which characterized the typical traditional secret cults of black Africa.

Between 1952 and 1998, there have occurred abnormal genetic mutation which has now brought into existence a destructive of secret organization, most of them with little or no similarities in deals with original concept developed by Soyinka and his seven collage buddies in 1952.

Major Campus Confraternity And Their Activities
At present, a majority of the universities, polytechnics and collage of educations in the country, are afflicted with the terrifying virus of cultism. Even secondary and primary have lately been affected. Female students who usually are members of the existing cults have recently started exclusive cults, the most prominent of which is the "Daughters of Jazebel."
The Pyrates;
The Pyrates are founded by Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, the oldest of the secret cults on campuses. This is because their entry requirements are usually very stringent and they select on merit. However, the profile of the pyrates is very high. The Pyrates, also known as the National Association of seadogs (NAS) is the only registered fraternity and boosts of well known personalities who have taken pains to explain the difference between the NAS and other splinter groups. As a matter of fact, the NAS claims it has demolished its campus arms and that whoever still claims to to be Pyrate is only masquerading.
The Buccaneers;
Also known as the Buccaneer Association of Nigeria (BAN). The fraternity was created about the mid 70's by a blackspotted or expelled pyrates who felt unfairly treated. It is regarded as the next to pyrates in terms of profile. Buccaneers are known as the Sealords, perhaps attempt to claim superiority. They maintain a low profile making them very difficult to identify their members. This makes them very dangerous enemies because they have the capacity to strike without notice of leaving a trace.
Eiye;
 "Eieye" is a yoruba word for bird.The "Eiye" was coined out of the yoruba saying "Eiye ko ni isaasun eye nbuta" meaning, although the birdshas no utensil it has no problem feeding. Eiye are perhaps the most numerous on the western campuses. The Eiye confraternity was born consequent upon a crisis. its method was therefore not devoid of violence. Its objectives and need to protect its upsurge necessitated secrecy. Unlike the Pyrates blood-sucking was its bond.
Black Axe;
The Black Axe or Flying Axe although not as numerous as the Eiye are the loudest on most of the campuses. Originally created as some kind of Pan-African organization, it appears to have degenerated into one of the most violent and least disciplined of the fraternities. They also appear to be the most ruthless and the best armed. Black Axe members are prone to anger and instant action, according to reports. However, they are very vulnerable because most of their members are known to almost anyone with an ear on the ground on the campus. What this means is that when a rival cult wants to go for them, they can easily be targeted and dealt with. In recent Unilag crisis, for instance, they have probably borne most of the brunt.
The Viking;
It is fairly difficult to describe the Vikings. While they have been known to be very violent in the Eastern conference they have somehow maintained until more recently, a very good image in the south. In Unilag, for instance, the Vikings are highly regarded by other cult members.
Campus Mafia;
The Campus Mafia or the Mafites are more of the social club peddling influence than a confraternity in a real sense of it. At the Obafemi Awolowo University for instance in the early 90's, they became the most feared group on campus. Interestingly they are usually known by everyone. At Ife, They carried out various acts of violence with abandon, climaxing with their epic confrontation with the student union.
