Things have never been this worse in the history of this nation, our economy, our lives and our well being have never been threatened this much. We have never had a true messiah in Nigeria lately, what we experience is some charlatans who disguise as freedom fighters pretending to secure the well being of the masses in the end it will all be a well plotted plan just to get what they want and then default. They only think about the well being of their children and their unborn generation.
The likes of Oshiomole is a good example of those saboteurs whom deceived the masses that he was a true son of the soil. In 2003 when he was the NLC chairman he fought President Obasanjo's decision to increase fuel price, at that moment he became the people's hero who went for election in Edo state and won but now everyone know what a sham he is.
PMB was all about fighting corruption and inflating the economy in his campaign for 2015 Presidential election. He told us how he was going to fight corruption in his government to its barest minimum but now we know the only places he took the fights to and where he did not. Nigeria today is reading the worst economy in its history.
Again Ben Bruce came out with all his jargon about common sense and hypocrisies about buy naija trying to play the hero there, abeg na who this albino think say im wan Jones sef? Once they all get what they want their real characters begin to show. We can go on and on with this list of these charlatans without knowing where to stop. Today you see a fighter and tomorrow you wonder where his/her voice went when the worst is happening.
Nigeria celebrated its 56th independence and people came to ask what are we celebrating? It is a good question, a nation at 56 is still learning to crawl on its knees not to talk of walking on its feet. A video was released some days back in a bid to celebrate Nigeria's independence, showing where our musicians and celebrities were gorgeously pledging their allegiance to the so called splendour of the Nation, selling a fake image of Nigeria telling the world that we are happy and everything is OK when we are at our worst. The likes of Sammy Okposo, MI, Chioma Chukwuka, Omawunmi, Naeto C, Akindele and the rest were seen in the video reciting the national anthem with all pleasure and joy, the video was glamorously shot portraying the fake splendour of Nigeria, Is there no single person awake? Why Is everyone still sleeping?
Come to think of it Where are our real musicians? Where are the ones that sang about the true situation of the country and kept singing about it no matter the what? All we see is people that sing about a woman's behind. Where are the true talkers? The ones that stood their grounds to say their minds no matter what, not the ones that talk just to get a position or favour from government. They are all afraid not to meet their fates. Where are the patriotic Nigerians? The Nigerians we know now is of the mentality of we cannot defeat them lets join them, where everyone is looking for an escape route to enjoy in his/her selfishness, that is why Nigeria has and will never move forward but rather keep moving backwards.
Nigeria have missed those good old days, those days of Fela Kuti may his soul rest in peace, his loyalty was never for sale, his success was never a hindrance to his course, nothing stood in his way, they were alot like him during his time. But can we say the same about any of this our generation?
The unity of Nigeria have never been threatened this far, people have started waking up to the biased democracy of the country, but yet the leaders are trying so hard to put us back to sleep. Biafrans are agitating for liberation, same with Niger-Delta because they feel cheated, their struggle for that is beacause their resources are being used to develop the north but yet they have the poorest communities. Restructuring of Nigeria might just be the last and better option because nothing else have seemed to work.
